Today was the first time I've used my bike to haul stuff.  I rode over to the Ballston farmers' market, and attached one of the saddle bags to the back of the bike.  Then, I picked up all the goodies -- corn, peaches, tomatoes, apples, etc., and realized that even for the 2 of us, that stuff is heavy.  I put it in the bag, hoping that the tomatoes didn't turn to juice, and carefully fiddled to get it back on the bike.  I worried that the weight would throw me off on curves, or that even worse, the whole thing would somehow come undone as I was in traffic -- but, no worries, it all went quite well.  I could feel the weight on one side, but I don't think it made my ride less safe.  So, I think the bike will be a great shopping vehicle!  When I was at the market, a guy on a guitar was playing and singing oldies, and the breeze from Hannah, I guess,  just started up -- it was really pretty.
