Yes, today I'm pondering the use of the term douche bag. Of course, I googled it, and took the above pic from an article in Esquire. The gist of the article is that it's a term that has some use, but has been overused. The article asked that we stop using it in order to save it -- for those who really deserve it.

I thought about the word today as I pondered Sarah Palin. I could so easily be that knee-jerk east coast liberal who vilifies her, but I kind of like her. It's taken a while, and all I know is what I read or assume from the media which means that I'm sure I don't really know who she is. But I was rooting for her in confronting that true douche bag, David Letterman. How dare that arrogant not-all-that-funny old man go after her young daughter? She reacted appropriately -- she deserved to go totally ballistic on him. He holds himself up as sophisticated New York...that joke was sophisticated?...and that anyone who doesn't "get it" must be one of those pathetic yokels from elsewhere.

I don't know why she's resigning, but I feel sorry for her. She was thrown into the shark pool and came out bloody. I don't know if I'd ever feel aligned with her political views, but I can see what a tough year she's had and even though this might not be the best political move, I think she deserves a rest and some time with her family.
