So, I officially have the most wonderful husband in the world.  While I was at the Amnesty AGM in Boston this weekend, Doug killed himself making raised bed vegetable planters.  He built them, hauled dirt from the front driveway all the way back to fill them, and even put mulch around them.  Aren't they beautiful?  And this was all in one weekend.  He made an extra one on the back patio because he had more dirt and wood.  That's a really sunny place, so I'll have decide which veggies need the most sun.
But not only did he do all this, but the kitchen was clean, trash and recycling put out...good grief!  I feel like such a lowly slacker.

I'm planning a REALLY nice dinner for him tonight...  He also made an appointment to get the massage I gave him for his birthday -- so his muscles deserve that for sure.

Boston was great -- very energizing conference.  I learned about AI's new campaign to address the way immigrants are treated/detained every day in the US -- shameful.

I also have a question for Julie.  One session highlighted sexual abuse of Native American women, and talked about some kind of US law that means that a non-Indian man can assault an Indian woman on Indian property and totally walk away and not be charged.  They also said that 86% of assaults on Indian women are by non-Indian men.  Does this seem right to you?  I kind of feel, based on no real knowledge, that Indian men aren't exactly heroes in this regard, but wonder what your experience has been.
