Mom, Doug and I went to the 'burg today to visit the CPA who does our taxes.  It's always such a RELIEF to know that it's in someone else's hands.  Still don't know if/how much we'll owe -- last year had me only working part of it, plus the house sale and all that...who knows.  Mom liked the accountant too, and she has all this stuff with trusts to consider.  She keeps saying that she doesn't know anything about taxes, but that's not entirely true...she was very organized, had all her papers in a way that he quickly understood them.  In truth, I think she knows quite a bit.  He was helpful in showing her at least a few ways to make next year better, so that's always good.

We always drive by the house when we're there -- I bet people in the 'burg talk about it!  "I see them driving by and just staring..." etc.  Ha -- glad to provide fodder for the mill.  Today was the same -- house empty, nothing being done, porch lights on, but one thing was different -- the pretty bulbs we planted last year are up and a couple bunches of daffodils were blooming and cheery.  It's nice to have left something pretty:-)  We also had to go have lunch at the cafe on Caroline St. -- Mom loved the garlic burger!   I have to speak at Georgetown this evening for Amnesty, and I didn't want them talking about that nasty old woman with the bad breath, so I compromised and had a bacon cheeseburger instead.  Yummy.  We completed the trifecta with Dad ordering the Southwestern burger.

Your blog is kicking my blog's butt!
When I get back, I want to swing by the old house too (and eat a garlic burger - those are amazing!)

And sorry you were feeling a little down earlier. If you want to work a little bit part time again, maybe you could teach another class on-line? Or see if the library needs part-time help, or do something totally different, and work in a flower shop or something ;)
But, maybe you're just lonely since you're used to a full house with kids and tenants. It'll liven up here in about 2 weeks when I get back :)
