What an exciting few days.  It's hard to believe that as a country, as well as personally, we could go from such despair to such hope.  Obama is such a remarkable person, and he just appeared when we so needed a leader -- I see how religions get going!  The power of one -- one person.  Along with my joy I also feel sorry for  him -- we beat down our presidents and how can he do it all?  I guess if anyone is going to get going and try, he's the one who can do that.  I love his demeanor and intellect, and his all-mixed-up background is so...American.  It's amazing how fast we can move from cynicism to optimism.  Life's good.

I worked at the polls all day on Tuesday -- 5 AM until about 9 PM.  My polling location was a new one in Arlington, and wasn't overcrowded.  It was located in Mom's community -- The Jefferson -- and also drew from a big apartment building next door.  We ended up going 3-1 for Obama...which surprised me given the demographic -- fairly well-off older people.  I'd say I assisted about 12 people who had trouble reading the screen, hand control, etc.  One woman just wanted Republican across the board, who cared what the names were.  But every other person was firmly for Obama....these very old and feeble people telling me Obama...Warner...Moran -- you really can't make assumptions.
