Well, it hasn't rained in weeks -- we're basically in a drought.  But since tomorrow night was going to be our big Halloween/Octoberfest bash, rain is predicted, at 100%, for tomorrow.  But, I had reserved Sunday as the rain date, and it's supposed to be nice.  I ran around the neighborhood with change notices today, and I still think we'll have a good turnout.  I'll take pics!

So, it's been yet another wonderful week.  I feel kind of unproductive in that the house still isn't all organized, but I tell you, it is clean.  The main floor and 2d floor are just basically clean...all the time.  As you know, this would be new to me.  I went to do my yoga 2-hours of work then class today.  This Friday class has 2 instructors, and I just love both of them.  They are wise women who help you find the important stuff.  Today we worked on our feet -- spreading toes apart, hitting acupuncture points...amazing.

Yesterday was my battery day.  Yep, when you don't work, you can spend...well, hours, finding a battery.  The fireplace remote wasn't working, and yesterday I couldn't get the fire to turn off.  So, I downloaded some instructions and decided that we needed a new battery.  But, can this remote take a standard AA or anything?  Of course not.  Target didn't come close, so I finally found one of those Battery Plus stores online, and the address was Lee Highway - -which is close by -- so off I went.  Well, Lee Highway is a big street...luckily I had map lady with me...and about 45 minutes later I get to the battery store, buy my $2.50 little weird battery,  come home, and was then able to turn off the fire!  How strange in the course of human history that I couldn't turn off a fire!  But, these things always remind me how fortunate I am -- in my other life, that fire would have kept burning 'till Doug came home to turn off the gas.  Then it would have taken 6 months at least to chase down that stupid little battery.

I should also mention that I'm doing some professional work -- I'm judging proposals for a big technology conference that will be in Washington this summer.  I just switch back into that world and am pretty ruthless in my scoring, I'll tell you.

And Emily -- yes that is Jerry's dog bed in the photo.  When my bookgroup was over for dinner a few weeks ago, someone noted that the dog had a bed in every room -- pretty much true!  His chair is in a corner of the dining room, he has a bed in the living room, on the sun porch, and in my room...and still prefers the human bed with sheets:-)
