Oh my...so I called Verizon yesterday to get FIOS, but it isn't available in our area -- well, why the hell not?  So, instead they put me right through to getting DSL.  Well, that would be slower than cable, so today I called to cancel the DSL.  Ha!  Cancel?  Oh no...we're not doing that.  First I went through the voice menu 5 or 6 times and was disconnected 3 times.  I finally got to the right person...and we're at 45 minutes on the phone here.  He had lots of reasons why I needed to keep the DSL (mainly that the move to FIOS would be easier and cheaper), but then threw in that he'd give it to me for 5 months free.  So -- what to do?  I said OK...I guess we'll take the free stuff.  Why is it that you always come away from these transactions feeling so conned!  And honestly, will I even be able to tell if it's free?  And if they charge us within the 5 months, is there any chance in hell to get that fixed?

ugh how annoying! When I tried to cancel my college credit card they pulled the same stuff...that's why i always have an extra card on my account that I never use!
